Carlos E. Baena-Cagnani, M.D. is a specialist in allergology, immunology and respiratory medicine. He is the president of the World Allergy Organization (WAO) and professor in the Postgraduate Department of the Faculty of Medicine at Catholic University in Córdoba, Argentina.

Professor Baena-Cagnani is a member of the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) Assembly, a member of the Executive Committee and Latin America Chairman for the Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma – World Health Organization (ARIA-WHO) committee. He is also the past president of the Latin American Society of Allergy and Immunology and the Argentinean Association of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.

He has presented at more than 250 meetings and seminars throughout the world on topics including asthma, rhinitis, immunotherapy and asthma educational plans in Latin American countries. He is an editorial board member and contributing editor of several international scientific journals, and has published numerous manuscripts in peer-review journals.

Professor Baena-Cagnani’s research interests focus on the epidemiology of asthma and allergy, with a particular emphasis on risk factors including allergen exposure.

Professor Baena-Cagnani trained in allergy and respiratory medicine at the University Clinic at the University of Navarra, Pamplona, Spain and completed his specialty and training in clinical research at South Florida University in Tampa, Florida.

Professor Baena-Cagnani serves on the Global Asthma Physician and Patient (GAPP) Survey Advisory Board.
