Erkka Juhani Valovirta, M.D., Ph.D. is the medical committee coordinator and former president of the European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients' Association (EFA), senior medical officer at Turku Allergy Center in Turku, Finland.
Dr. Valovirta is on the specialty committee for the World Allergy Organization (WAO), the chairman of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) Immunotherapy Interest Group, and the executive committees of the Global Allergy and Asthma European Network (GA2LEN) and Allergic Rhinitis and its Impact on Asthma (ARIA).

He has written several scientific articles in pharmacology, allergology and pulmunology that have been published in journals, such as: American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, European Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and the European Respiratory Journal.

He has also co-authored various textbooks on allergy and allergen specific immunotherapy. In addition, Dr. Valovirta is a reviewer of the following journals: Allergy, Clinical Experimental Allergy and the European Respiratory Journal.

Previously, Dr. Valovirta was a senior lecturer in pediatrics at the Department of Clinical Allergology at the University of Turku and worked in the Department of Clinical Allergology as a research fellow and allergy consultant.

Dr. Valovirta serves on the Global Asthma Physician and Patient (GAPP) Survey Advisory Board.
